Brooklyn-based Alternative Electronic artist, producer/singer-songwriter Stanford Reid, commands audiences with fiery presence and vibrant personality that radiates through every oscillating synth and driving bass line he programs in synergy with his empowering, metaphorical lyrics drawing from his pantheistic study of philosophies. Being a multi instrumentalist Stanford often switches between saxophone, bass, guitar and percussion during live performances and even plays a few instruments simultaneously. He's known to play alto sax while playing drums and not miss a beat.
His soulful soothing alto voice along with his Hip-Hop/ R&B flavored melodies and live jazzy saxophone solos make up a unique sound that stands out in the flooded Electronic music genre. Stanford's unique sound has been coined "Neo-Folk/ Jazz, an eclectic blend of electronic pop, folk with plenty of jazzy alto sax. One of Reid's most prominent musical influences is Donald Fagen, mastermind behind innovative jazz/rock infusion band,
Steely Dan. He also is said to be reminiscent of Pharrell Williams, Kid Cudi, and Toro Y Moi.
In October 2014, Stanford Reid released his EP “Sounds Of Falling Trees” and thus procured a recording contract with Tate Music Group with whom he later released his full length debut, "State Of The Arts." In 2015 Reid moved to Brooklyn and sparked "#PowerOurPlanet," a movement that presents weekly events and art showcases that place emphasis on the use of innovation and creativity to uplift humanity. The nights, curated by Stanford feature some of NYC’s most exciting poets, comedians, and Hip-Hop & Folk artists in a live band context. As host, Stanford provides accompaniment for the performers and motivates the crowds with his eclectic musical sets and inspired spoken words. At the core, the #PowerOurPlanet movement is progressing towards launching a start-up with focus on renewable energy, water purification, and developments in agricultural technologies. Stanford Reid planning to spread his mission, prepares for world tour in October 2016, Southeast Asia being the first destination.
Stanford is also an actor and an aspiring screenwriter.
